De Menezes family launch campaign

The family of Jean Charles de Menezes are launching a campaign for justice.

The initiative is due to be announced at the London School of Economics' New Theatre, and is being supported by Amnesty International and EU Goodwill Ambassador Bianca Jagger.

The campaign comes after Mr de Menezes's parents month long visit to the UK which resulted in several meetings with the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) and the Metropolitan Police.

Asad Rehman, spokesman for the justice campaign, said the family of the 27-year-old still had "unanswered questions".

Mr Rehman added: "Jean Charles's family want answers about the police shoot to kill policy, and how the subsequent investigation is being handled.

"They have met with the IPCC but want to make sure he is not forgotten, and public support remains strong."

Mr de Menzes was shot dead after police mistook him for a suicide-bomber at Stockwell Tube Station in July, the day after the failed bomb attacks on London.
