Default IF YOU HAVE A GUN, now could be a good time to stock up with Ammo

New director of national intelligence, retired Adm. Dennis Blair, testified before the Senate Intelligence Committee. He warned that the deepening economic crisis posed perhaps our gravest threat to stability and national security. It could trigger, he said, a return to the “violent extremism” of the 1920s and 1930s.

Default Spike in gun sales leads to Florida bullet shortage

Florida weapons dealers are running out of bullets because of a buying spree that could be related to an ammo-tax scare some think will come from President Obama, the Orlando Sentinel reports.

It's part of a larger trend involving a spike in gun sales, as the St. Petersburg Times reported in November.

One manufacturer in Georgia reports a doubling of sales since the November election. A range owner said concealed-weapons classes have 300 percent more enrollees since Obama's win. Copper-jacketed bullets are flying like flapjacks.

And who do we owe this economic upheaval? From the Sentinel:

American gun owners buy about 7 billion rounds of ammunition yearly, according to the National Rifle Association. It has been warning its several million members that Obama favors raising taxes on bullets to make them prohibitively expensive.

"Anecdotal evidence certainly suggests that the demand for ammunition is continuing to increase, and that is certainly attributable to gun owners' concerns with the current administration," said Ted Novin, a spokesman for the National Shooting Sports Foundation, a trade association representing 4,700 members.

The bad news, gun fans: all this excitement is sending supply way down and price way up. Hope you've been stockpiling!
