Default 57% of those killed by Israel in 2009 were children; 428 dead since strikes began

Gaza – Ma’an – Sixteen out of the 28 killed in Israeli airstrikes since New Year’s Eve were children; nine were from the same family, nine of the adults killed were women.

The percentage of Israeli casualties that are children in 2009 is 57%.

On Friday the bodies of the Rayan family children were buried, and Palestinian medical sources confirmed the deaths of three more Palestinians under 17.

Seven Palestinians have been killed since midnight Thursday bringing the death toll to 428 and the injured to 2,220 on day seven of the Israeli operation.

The day’s strikes were reported as follows:

2:45 One of the children killed Friday was from the Al-Astal family. He was playing outside his home in the Al-Qararra neighborhood was killed when a shell hit the area.

2:30 In the An-Nuseirat refugee camp the Israeli army targeted the home of Imad A’qel, a prominent leader of the Al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas. The home was destroyed but no injuries were reported.

A’qel is one of the assistants to general leader of the brigades Ahmad Al-Ja’bari.

2:15pm Three were killed in an airstrike on Al-Qarara village in southern Gaza.

2:00pm Shells landed on the home of Hamas’ Al-Qassam Brigades leader in the central Strip.

1:15pm 20 year-old Fadi Shebat killed in Israeli shelling at Bet Hanoun

1:00pm 15 year-old Hammad Mesbeh was killed by Israeli shells in Gaza City.

Medical sources in the Palestinian Red Crescent confirmed that Hammad was killed by shrapnel from an Israeli missile strike fired from a pilotless drone. His body was difficult to identify since it arrived to the hospital in pieces.

12:10pm Gazans crowd Jabaliya streets in public outcry against Israeli killing of Hamas leader Nizar Ryan and his 15 family members on Thursday.

12:00pm Shells fall on Der Al-Balah in the central Gaza Strip.

Shelling targeted the home of Nabil Matuq, Fouad’s brother. The home was also demolished.

9:00am Missile strikes in residential areas across the Strip were reported.

7:00am Israeli missiles targeted the homes of two Hamas members in the Al-Bureij refugee camp near Gaza City. The strikes left the homes of the men totally demolished, as well as damaging several buildings in the area.

One of the damaged homes belonged to Jamal Ad-Durrah, the father of Muhammad Ad-Durrah, whose death at the hands of Israeli gunfire was caught on film in the now iconic image of the young boy cowering behind his father as they hide behind an oil drum in the face of Israeli fire.

6:45am Two homes in Rafah were bombed, injuring six people.

6:30am Israeli shelling targeted a house in the Tel Al-Hawa neighborhood west of Gaza City.

What a bullshit story.........that picture is obviously of hamas terrorists, these fuckers train children to stand in the way of 1000 pound bombs, just so they can fire their shit rockets at the israeli's. What pure evil these fuckers get up to.

So what if israel has blockaded there borders and ports for just about forever, so what if if they shoot at children throwing stones, so what if they run over people with tanks and construction equipment, so what if they shoot clearly marked high visibility reporters, so what if they just kill indiscriminately. Fuck those useless palestinians.

I have no sympathy for these goons any more, I'm with others on this site now i've finally relented, the fuckers deserve it....................lets just anihalate the palestinian race out of existence, let the israelis have the land, its there's anyway the bible says so. No more palestinians, no more problems, no more photos of dead terrorists *cough* children.............

civilians always suffer the brunt of war, especially woman and children, to bad the woman of the area are so oppressed and treated just like cattle. If they were in charge there would probably no war or hunger, they can thank there old religious thinking to there plight.

Default Let me get this straight

Knight of the Word, what you are saying is that these children are dead because of the way Muslims treat women?

Care to elucidate as I am a bit confused by your logic? Are Israel some kind of militant womens rights activists who are killing Palestinian children in order to highlight the plight of Palestinian women?

Don't let your pre-conceived (MSM brainwashed?) ideas about Islam colour your judgement quite so much. I am Christian and no lover of Islam but I have difficulty blaming these deaths on any mysogynistic tendencies of Islam. At the end of the day it was Israel that killed these children not someone who wants his wife to cover her face.

These children are dead because cowardly Hamas hides behind women and children. Hamas started it. The Hamas charter dictates that Israel should be wiped out. What would you do if you lived in Israel and were under constant attack for the past 3 years?

Default You just don't listen do you?

Hamas are to blame and Hamas started it. OK let me see if I can break it down enough for you to understand it this time (I've posted twice to you before about Gaza but you just ignored me).

You ask me what would I do if I lived in Israel and were under constant attack for the past 3 years? The first thing I would do is ask myself why these people had it in for me, I would try and see if there was any blame that could be aportioned to my actions. Did I provoke these people in any way. I would look in to the history of the Middle East and see if Jews and Arabs had always fought (I would then realise that they hadn't always fought and had lived in relative harmony for the best part of 2,000 years). I would have a look at Iran and wonder how a state that supposedly wants to 'wipe Israel off the map' could have the largest Jewish population outside of Israel (I might even go so far as to research the Ahmadinejad quote for myself and look at the other possible translations rather than accept the one that has been fed to me).

Israel have pushed 1.5 million people in to the most densely populated piece of land in the world. These people used to have land inside what is now Israel but have been dispossessed. Gaza is essentially an open air prison, no-one comes or goes unless Israel says, that includes via air, sea and the border with Egypt.

Many Palestinians only have electricity for 4 hours a day, there is no real economy to speak of and many people live on about $1 a day. Some people regularly search through rubbish in order to find things to burn to heat their food! Israel denies them the right to self determination, denies them the right to earn a living, denies them medical care, denies them the right to an education (even if they get a scholarship to a foreign university they don't get let out).

Israel regularly blockades Gaza and stops essentials such as food, fuel and medical supplies from being delivered. Israel shoots at children using plastic coated steel bullets for throwing stones with regular lethal outcomes.

In 8 years, the rockets that Hamas fire from Gaza have caused 20 deaths, and whilst every death is lamentable, I would suggest that crossing the fucking road in Tel Aviv is more of a danger. There is an election in Israel in a month and THAT is why there is this horrible loss of life, the more Palestinians you can kill and the more hard line you are on the Hamas bottle rockets, the more votes you get.

Israel has killed 400 people in 8 days and the UN claims that 25% of these are civilian deaths. Under the Geneva convention Israel MUST protect civilians at all times, something that 100 dead civilians in little over a week shows they are not doing! This is a war crime FACT.

You state that these children are dead because Hamas hide behind women and children. I don't give a FUCK where they hide, the Geneva convention would say that if you had 99 terrorists and 1 civilian in a group, you HAVE to ensure the safety of the one civilian. The Hamas leader that got killed yesterday was killed with his 4 wives and 10 children, is that a price worth paying for you Zing? It isn't for me thanks! What about the 5 sisters killed in their sleep next to a Mosque? I have 2 daughters and if anyone did anything like that to my family I'd take up arms too!

How would you react to the following?: -
A Hamas rocket hit a Synagogue today with over 200 Jews praying inside, 13 were killed and numerous others injured.

Now swap out 'Israeli' for 'Hamas', 'Mosque' for 'Synagogue' and 'Muslims' for 'Jews' and you'll get the ACTUAL events today. If they no longer have the same OMG earth shattering effect on you then you need to look closely at your biases and whether there is any religious/racial motivation in your thought processes.

All Israel are doing is stoking the fires in the Middle East, they're like a playground bully giving the bird to Iran, Syria, Palestine, Jordan and Lebanon. 'Hey hey we're killing your people, wanna do something about it?', well just maybe someone will and where will we be then? US and UK intervention in a wide ranging war to try and get Israel out of the shit that it has been asking for? Want your relatives to go and fight in the ME because Tzipi Livni wants more votes? Want to see Israel use some of their nuclear arsenal, they're loopy enough to fucking do it!

All this is going to do is radicalise more young angry men in to attacking Israel, but then if you want to justify genocide and wiping out a group of people so you can have their land that might be just what the doctor ordered.

Peace be with you and more importantly peace to the Middle East.

Search on this site for Hamas Charter. They refuse to accept Israel's existence.

Default Oh FRO Zing

Search google for UN resolution 242, search google for Sabra Shatila and Qana.

If someone stole my land, killed my children, made me search through rubbish to find something to burn to heat my dinner, stopped me from earning a living, refused me medical care, denied me an education, regularly stopped any assistance being delivered and treated me little better than an animal I wouldn't be queueing up to recognise them either!

I love the way you ignore the whole of my post and tell me to go look at how nasty Hamas are. FFS Zing ask yourself WHY Hamas are like this? Don't try and tell me it's because of some pathological hatred of Jews on the part of Arabs, history doesn't bear this out. Israel are continually stealing land from Palestinians, they are building a seperation wall that make the Berlin wall look like a picket fence (this wall is taking a circuitous route around all of the best Palestinian farming land they can find close to the border, but only for the purposes of military control, not because they want the olive/fig trees. Like they're in Golan for military purposes rather than for the water from the Litani river).

There are Jew only roads in Palestine! Is this not apartheid? If it looks like apartheid, smells like apartheid and tastes like apartheid, it's probably just a rational Israeli response to these nasty Hamas people eh?

Zing have a look at the maps of Palestine and Israel from British Mandate to now, see if you can spot any kind of pattern. Read up on some of the history of the ME, Robert Fisk's books are a good place to start. Try and get some information on the conflict that is not tainted by the Israel first attitude of the MSM in the UK and US. Please open your eyes.

Default Interesting

See Thinking Man's Idiot's signature. It is a series of maps of Israel over the years that I posted. There are other maps I have posted. Do you not look at those?

Hamas is Iran's little dog doing what they want it to do. Ask yourself why doesn't the rest of the Arab world join with Hamas in their terrorism on Israeal? They want Hamas wiped out. They want Israel and the US to distract attention from their dictatorships.

Just because I don't agree with you does not mean I need educated. I am educated.

Will you attack me with rockets next? How far are you willing to take it?
