Princes under fire from activists for pheasant shoot
(Sunday 14 December 2008)
ANIMAL welfare campaigners condemned Prince William on Sunday after he was pictured on a pheasant shoot with brother Harry and girlfriend Kate Middleton.
The League Against Cruel Sports (LACS) said that the royal brothers, who are both serving with the armed forces, were "setting a bad example."
The trio were all pictured carrying guns on the royal estate at Sandringham, Norfolk.
"It's very disappointing. They're setting a bad example," said a LACS spokesman.
"A lot of people, young and old, think that shooting animals for sport is wrong and cruel.
"This is the young generation of royals and they're not sending out a good message."
He added: "I feel sorry for Ms Middleton. We got the impression that she didn't like bloodsports. The royals appear to use shooting as some sort on induction ceremony."
