Default How Much Did You Lose?

I have lost just about 50% of my life savings. I really regret not taking more vacations.

See the poll above.

You should add Zero as I never lost any savings as I never had any in the first place.

I now wish I would have never saved anything.

And! Now I have radically reduced the amount I'm saving in my 401k; but saving in the bank. You may see me in London next year. I'm ready for another vacation.

I am even, as I put most of my money in food storage, gold and silver, and things to be self sufficient last year as I could see the writing on the wall. The wife complained a little and thought I was a little nuts, but now she is very glad. Her dad lost about 300,000 so far and my mom has lost 60,000 there crying now, I tried to warn them, but I won't say I told you so.

Well you are ahead of me. I have about 3 cans of spam stashed and a case of Dasani.

That's too bad zing you could have put that 50 percent you lost into something to use later, better to be an ant then a grasshopper.

I would start stocking up on what ever you can afford to do now, as down the road there will be nothing, you can't even buy silver or gold anymore.

I do have a backyard pond full of fish and usable water. Sadly, it may be the best thing I have going for us. My brother said he would start collecting MRE's for us. He is in the military and says he always collects the extra MRE's remaining after training, etc. I told him I would take all he can get. He probably has a room full of them.

That will get us through a month or 2, then what?

Thats a start, I would do some intensive gardening this spring just too see how much you could produce in a small area, most people who do this can feed a family of 4 easily for a year, it could be fun.

We bought 4 acres out in nowhere, and I am building a small self sufficient log home, just finished the garage and apt. upstairs, to live in while I am proceeding along to being totally self sufficient if I have too.

We have a pretty good size yard and grow tomatoes. We grow more than we can eat and we are prepared to grow other food if necessary. I'm hoping it doesn't get that bad, but I'm not holding my breath. My oldest son has moved back home and it's nice to have a healthy 6-4 210 pound 26 year old around to help.

Never thought I would see America reduced to this. Greed.
