I just think it is so odd that the UK is as bad as the US. Perhaps TMI is right; the UK is the 51st state, police state that is.

Or the US could just be an extension of the UK, I did a bit traveling around the US in 96 and the UK was well ahead with CCTV, in fact I didn't see any apart from maybe government buildings.
The thing that amazed me was just how quick the police cars would be on you if you stopped on a highway in the middle of nowhere, like Kansas for instance.
It was amazing as you could see ahead and back for miles, but if you stopped it was like the rozzers had just dropped out of the sky!

Well the US and UK sound very similar when it comes to brutal police and oppressive government.

Interesting you mentioned Kansas. I live less than 20 miles from Kansas and it is flat here. You can see for miles, but the cops still manage to hide out and sneak up on you.

I remember reading an article that there are 36 cameras within a block of where George Orwell use to live. He was a genius and prophet.
