Default Israel cautions against Obama dialogue with Iran

JERUSALEM (Reuters) - Israel said Thursday U.S. President-elect Barack Obama's stated readiness to talk to Iran could be seen in the Middle East as a sign of weakness in efforts to persuade Tehran to curb its nuclear program.

"We live in a neighborhood in which sometimes dialogue -- in a situation where you have brought sanctions, and you then shift to dialogue -- is liable to be interpreted as weakness," Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni said, asked on Israel Radio about policy change toward Tehran in an Obama administration.

Her remarks sounded the first note of dissonance with Obama by a senior member of the Israeli government since the Democrat's sweeping victory over Republican candidate John McCain in the U.S. presidential election Tuesday.

Asked if she supported any U.S. dialogue with Iran, Livni replied: "The answer is no."

Livni, leading the centrist Kadima party into Israel's February 10 parliamentary election, also said "the bottom line" was that the United States, under Obama, "is also not willing to accept a nuclear Iran."

Obama has said he would harden sanctions on Iran but has also held out the possibility of direct talks with U.S. adversaries to resolve problems, including the dispute over Tehran's nuclear ambitions.

The West believes Iran's nuclear enrichment program is aimed at building atomic weapons, an allegation the Islamic Republic denies.

Israel, believed to have the Middle East's only atomic arsenal, has said Iran's nuclear program is a threat to its existence and that it was keeping all options on the table to stop it.

Its to the counterfeit Israelis best interest not to have talks, for if things calm down there people would start to look behind the curtain. The world would then force them to give up some territory and start playing nice with the Palestine people. That whole middle east conflict could have been resolved a long time ago but its not in the best interest of the ruling parties to have peace.

Cool He who wants peaces should - have dialogue

love thy neighbour and thy enemy also.

And NO, before any of you lot start trotting out derogatory statements I do not dislike Israel, Jews or Israelis, I dislike Jewish Zionist NAZIS who abuse other people because they are not Jewish, particularly Arab Palestinians.

I hate NAZIS, not JEWS and at the top of my list are NAZIJEWS, skinheads and other hard line NAZI types regardless of their country of origin, colour or religion!

Sure Iran is not my cup of tea, but hey, it is a key player in the middle east region.

If Israel does not want talks, is that because they want WAR?

And if Israel wants WAR - is that not EVIL?

How anyone can claim to want peace and not talk - is a liar and a fraud.

Now, surely Israel is not a liar and a fraud, is it - so lets have talks - what have we got to lose - but peace & prosperity for all peoples?

And is it not more brave to do that which you fear most?

There was a comment posted just before the elections but, I can't remember what news station it was on. However, I do remember what was said: Obama wanted to seperate ties with Israel, yet he hired Rahm Emanual who is Israel American with very strong ties to Israel hence his Dad, Ben. I was taught a very long time ago about the relations between America and Israel. Althought it may seem there is tension most of the time, I feel that it is the media hype. I also know that, despite what Obama has said, America has and always will, come to the aid of Israel for she is the Motherland and one always protects his Mother. The scriptures say it and to me that is the gospel truth. To the country of Israel, I wish you well in the upcoming months for you will be tried by others. I pray that you have the ability to withstand and overcome. God said he has your back....so do I.

This has nothing to do with "god" as per usual.

Some 15% of Israels exports ($4Bn) comes from the security sector (Haaretz/Wikipedia). It is not in their interest to diminish the source of this sector - war.

Secondly, Israel is effectively the America's largest military base and it's very conveniently right the oil heartland (unluckily for them though, Israel has no oil). They will never give it up, and the incredibly powerful Jewish lobbies in the US will prevent any legislation that even makes that possible. Although now it's becoming clear that the US is pressuring/threatening the Iraqi puppet government to allow them a giant military base on their soil - which of course gives them both oil and a striking pad - which may give reason to gradually lessen their ties with Israel. Time, as always, will tell.

Default God has spoken

God says: stand on one leg and do a one finger salute.

So, seeing as we have got God out of the way perhaps all those brainwashed idiots in America & Israel can start to see sense.

Respect for yourself and others & the planet is the only way to make progress and to do that you have to communicate good will and good intentions.
