Default Happy Halloween

What is the most popular Halloween costume this year:

Now time for a dumb question. Does the UK observe Halloween or something similar?

As Mick said, we do celebrate Halloween but it doesn't really get 'taught' or 'celebrated' in schools (unless parent groups organise a disco) - as this came as a shock to an American teacher who taught alongside me for a year!

I'm finding that Halloween is getting far more commercial over here now (I guess like most things) and it is mainly aimed at children.

If you are that way inclined.....Happy Halloween!

We never used to do trick or treating and we never used to use a pumpkin either, we used turnips, I can't even remember getting dressed up to be quite honest with you, I think that like McDonalds all of this was an American export.
Capitalism aimed at children.

Now that you say that I seem to recall reading about turnips being used; that would be tricky. My wife and I use to like carving elaborate designs in pumpkins, but quit doing that because it's hard work and someone always ended up smashing them. Yes, Smashing Pumpkins.

McDonalds = toxic waste.

Just found this picture of a Predator style pumpkin. Thought I'd share...

A teacher eh? I admire those that have the guts to teach.

I kind of dread Halloween, but we do hand out candy. Our neighborhood has a good reputation so we get a lot of kids. Last year I had to send my son off the the store for more candy since we ran out early.
