McCain accuses Obama of Socialism

John McCain has continued to hammer his presidential rival's tax plan, accusing Barack Obama of 'socialism'.

Speaking at a rally in Ohio, he derided the plan which he said would raise taxes for Americans like Joe the plumber mentioned numerous times in the last presidential debate.

First, I'm sick of hearing about Joe the plumber. The guy doesn't even have his plumber license. Second, so what McChange? What do you call welfare? It's been around for years. It's the redistribution of wealth, you can call it socialism or whatever.

One thing that kind of bothers me is the fact that workers have to pee in a cup and pass a test to work for their paycheck, but welfare recipients do not have too. It's not fair. NO ONE should have to pee in a cup to prove their innocence. What ever happened to being innocent until proven guilty?

My morning rant. I feel better now.

That's an excellent point although I would exclude any workers who hold others lives in their hands (airline pilots, school bus drivers, etc.). One other thing that bothers me about the welfare system in this country in that it perpetuates its own problems by increasing the amount of benefits paid out if the recipients have more children. I would like to see a policy put in place in comparison with the philosophy of the Chinese. The government there will grant benefits for one child only and if you choose to have another and compound your financial burden the benefits are stripped. We can't keep rewarding people in this country for irresponsible behavior, especially the ones who've obviously figured out the system - more kids = more money. My wife and I would like to have a third child but there's one simple obsticale in our way - we can't afford it.

Not to get off topic but I don't think it's a stretch to label ANY politician a socialist who would casually throw around statements such as "We need to spread the wealth around."
