Default Personal Insecurity is Big Business

Rent Officers could be a short step away from being used to spy for the Government by collecting data that goes beyond their designated duties. Where will the data end up? Never mind those assurances from your local Council Department. Assurances mean nothing when you have a higher hidden authority which will always have an excuse to make an order for data transfer to another branch of government or quangoistic type of organisation linking overseas with Homeland Security. The authorities are becoming truly international or One World Governmental.
Housing & Council Tax related checks may turn out to be useful for Big Brother in compiling a database on your homes contents. All that was needed was a visit by an Officer from the Council's Dept. of Housing with laptop computer complete with built-in spy camera, video recording and microphone which could be used to scan the contents of your home (no need for that desperately needed excuse for CCTV in your homes now Big Brother - eh?) The council inspector could be quite unaware of it's Privacy Surveillance and Violation Potential and would be innocently asking a couple of questions but what about the electronic data files asking for your electronic signature? Would you go along with this after the appalling record our Government has in keeping our records secure? I was caught off guard with this a couple of years ago and did not want to sign using an electronic pen, but it was that or no Council payment of rent. The old fashioned signature with pen and paper is more secure because the forging of a signature is being carried out by one individual and unlike electronic signatures which can be passed around a network we're talking about one individual committing an offence. It is much easier to hide your true identity when you are behind a computer terminal. I do not believe technology is protecting our data and Government and Banking are in on this agenda to undermine at the highest level our security. Chip 'N' Pin was hacked into years ago and people will still place their trust in it.

Chip 'N' Pin, is it safe?

Passports are no better(at least Big Brother can track your every move with GPS to make you feel good):

‘Fakeproof’ e-passport is cloned in minutes:

... at least the Verichip is safe for immigrants. Or is it? Not according to security researcher Jonathan Westhues:

Never mind, there are more Big New Corporations with their Nano-solutions over the horizon. The more the Government spend on security the more we hear about another hole in the system. I hope I am not the only one who never uses plastic cards. There is money to be made in insecure Information Technology. Insecurity is big business and the electronic currency and cashless society will throw us down into an abyss that we will not be able to get out of very easily.
