Protestors follow Bush to Maine
KENNEBUNKPORT, ME, United States (UPI) — Anti-war protesters marched outside a church in the tiny, scenic downtown of Kennebunkport, Maine, where President Bush attended a family wedding.
The 700 demonstrators marched past St. Ann`s Episcopal Church, a stone chapel overlooking the sea, before Bush`s second cousin was married Saturday. They then continued up to a checkpoint guarding the Bush family`s summer compound, the Washington Post reported.
The protesters left before the service began so as not to disrupt the event.
But before they left, they sang, chanted, beat drums and waved signs urging Bush to bring U.S. troops home from Iraq.
Polls indicate a majority of voters oppose Bush`s handling of Iraq.
Bush was to return to Washington Sunday before a week of traveling.
