Plane Crash in Afghanistan Kills 5, 5 Missing
A cargo plane rented by the US government carrying anti-drug officials has crashed in the Helmand province, killing five.
A multi-national forces spokesman announced that the Russian twin engine Antonov AN32 crashed into a region populated by nomads as it tried to land at Bost Airport in Lashkar Gah, the provincial capital.
Eight passengers survived and were taken to a hospital in Kandahar by military helicopter. None of the nationalities of the injured has yet been released.
The spokesman said five passengers are still missing.
