Government to have data sharing limitations removed
Ministers are preparing to overturn a fundamental principle of data protection in government. They will announce next month that public bodies can assume they are free to share citizens’ personal data with other arms of the state, so long as it is in the public interest.
The government is going to allow the sharing of YOUR personal data amongst numerous and seemingly unlimited government agencies…and they did not even bother to ask your permission.
Don’t you just love living in a country where your government does not work for you or even with you but in spite of you? They call it a dictatorship when talking about Iraq, Zimbabwe, Iran etc. etc. Strange that they do not seem to be able to shake off that “democracy” tag, no matter how hard they try!
But fret not, for this is not as insidious as it may first appear. Far from just randomly sharing around your data, it will only be done when it is in the “public interest”…
So that is cleared up then! I feel safer already!
