Criticize Patriot Act, Get Interrogated by FBI
Tuesday morning Susan Gilbert, president of the League of Women voters of Berrien and Cass Counties, received a call from an FBI agent complaining about Chellie Pingree’s remarks on the Patriot Act at the Sunshine Week meeting in Three Oaks March 14.
Al DiBrito read a March 17 article on the meeting in the Herald-Palladium and called the reporter who wrote the story.
He characterized his call as “an invitation to debate.â€
Gilbert immediately called Common Cause and the League of Women Voters.
“The irony of an FBI agent criticizing statements made at a meeting on openness in government is obvious,†Gilbert told the Daily News on Thursday.
