Bush will Expand “Freedom Across the World” By Shock and Awe

Bush said today,”We will defeat the terrorists and expand freedom across the world.”

How does he plan to expand freedom across the world? By Invading a country that had nothing to do with 9/11 and causing the death of possibly 100,000 Iraqis? By allowing Israel to invade and kill 1,000 civilians in the new democracy of Lebanon? Is that how the United States expands freedom? And do these countries hate us because we are free and democratic? Could it be that they hate us because we kill and maim their population and destroy their cities?

Bush also said, “The conflict in Lebanon is part of a broader struggle between freedom and terror that is unfolding across the region. Terrorists and their sponsors recognize that the Middle East is at a pivotal moment in its history. Freedom has brought hope to millions, and it’s helped foster the development of young democracies from Baghdad to Beirut.”

As I’m aware, the conflict (invasion by Israel and murder of babies, children and women) in Lebanon was planned by the United States and Israel in order to control Hezbollah’s weapons and ALSO to incite Syria and Iran into the “conflict” so the United States would have an excuse to attack Iran’s nuclear facilities. Israel told Bush that he was “nuts” about taking the fight to Syria and eventually, the US called for a UN cease-fire when they saw that Israel might suffer a defeat at the hands of Hezbollah.

I can’t see how freedom has fostered the development of young democracies from Baghdad to Beirut. Beirut’s infrastructure was destroyed by the Israeli attack and it will cost billions to restore it. Many lost their homes and friends and family. Is this any way to develop a democracy? Need I say anything about Iraq which has gone from bad to worse and most, finally admit it’s in the middle of a civil war? He calls this, “Development of a young democracy”?

And then Bush brought out the fear card and the booga booga that now seems to have unravelled and prosecutions may have been hindered by the President’s insistence that the information be released too early, “I thanked the men and women of the intelligence community for all they did to help the British government uncover and disrupt this vicious plot. This attempted attack is a reminder to us all: The terrorists remain determined to destroy innocent life on a massive scale, and we must be equally determined to stop them. ”

The last line of this speech, “painted in red, white and blue” by his professional speech writers, stated, “We will build a more peaceful world and leave behind a stronger and better America for our children and grandchildren. ”

I guess on way of building a “more peaceful” world” is by destroying the old peaceful world? Before Bush took power in the USA, it was fairly peaceful out there. “And leave behind a stronger and better America”, he said. Well, he better hurry. He’s only got 2-1/2 more years to do this. Does stronger mean we can invade any country whenever we feel like it? “For our children and grandchildren” who will be paying for this war and Bush’s eight years of destruction of the Constitution.
