Bush: We’ll Shoot Down Korea Missiles
AMERICA is ready to shoot down a North Korean longrange missile if the state decides to test-fire it, it was claimed yesterday.
The Pentagon is said to have put its missile defences on standby. And president George Bush has warned the Koreans not to test the Taepodong-2 missile, said to have enough range to reach the States.
The US are considering options including blowing the missile out of the sky.
A Korean newspaper says the launch could come at any time but the White House has urged North Korea to abandon the test.
Bush said: “It should make people nervous when nontransparent regimes who have announced they have warheads fire missiles.”
North Korean wants talks with America - but UN ambassador John Bolton said: “You don’t normally engage in conversations by threatening to launch intercontinental ballistic missiles.”
