Bitter Irony
In a land that incarcerates illegal immigrants as a matter or course, its sickening to find the Australian department of immigration has allowed the former bodyguard of Saddam Hussein to life freely in this country, while the victims of his masters regime are locked up in desert detention centres.
Oday Adnan Al Tekriti, initially refused a visa upon entry into Australia 6 years ago because he may have committed crimes against humanity, reported the Sydney Morning Herald. This decision was overturned by the Department of Immigration and he has been given temporary ’safe haven’ status in Australia.
The department of immigration does not indiscriminately grant or refuse protection visas to people just because they are from a certain country of background, says Immigration Minister, Senator Amanda Vanstone in a statement released recently.
Mr Al Tekriti is now married to a former South Australian Liberal MP and resides in Adelaide, S.A.
