Australia to help host American Concentration Camps
Jason Phelan
Australian Prime Minister, John Howard is pushing ahead for plans for a Guantanamo Bay style migration complex to process asylum seekers trying to reach Australia. Despite opposition from members of his own party and members of the liberal coalition PM Howard continues to rally for a privatised, offshore detention centre able to operate outside Commonwealth Common Law.
Basically such centres would offer the conservative coalition government an
area very similar to the Unites States complexes in Cuba. Such complexes
will be privately operated and shrouded in post 9/11 secrecy and sedition
legislation. For those unfortunate enough, internment will be considered
indefinite and will open up a government approved arena for torture,
mistreatment and compulsory imprisonment of women and children. It is also
speculated that, through well worded amendments and legislation such
internment complexes would also be able to operate out side the Geneva
convention and international law.
It is interesting to note that it will be corporation from the United States
that stands to profit out of these prisons, I guess the war on ‘terror’ has
to produce an income in these, the days of fiscal viability. I am not alone
in feeling personally saddened at the thought of seeing our flag flying over
these dictatorship styled concentration camps…..and remember Commonwealth
readers ; our flag represents yours, so these camps are a stain on the hands
of all commonwealth nations. If these migration centres prove to be
do-able, Id be expecting to see British, Canadian and African ‘centres
coming soon to a third world country near you.
