I think that as soon as you trade off freedom for security, you have just jumped off a cliff without a parachute.

Yes, it sounds good, and simple. But such a data base is easily misused, and it's the unintended consequenses that bite you in the ass; bites society in the ass.

There are other ways to do the same thing without a blanket database being exposed to abuse. They really need to think it through, but, I guess they have made the decision, and we will all wait to see how devistating the eventual use of the database will be. No doubt they will tie into some larger system, and include facial recognition, more cameras outside, and soon in your back yards, then in the home, then in EVERY room in the home, where some computer will monitor everyone in the name of health, safety and security, a la "Eureaka" the tv series.

Next the drivers licence in your wallet better match the car plates that you are driving or you become a "suspect", subject to being pulled over, tased, searched, and THEN asked questions, dramatic? Ah, no. Look at TSA's complete inability to distinguish a small child from a terrorist.

This community is asking for it, or the leaders are, and they will get it.

Conclusion: A very bad community choice.
