EVs are economical to run, affordable, useful, and really fun to ride or drive. They are the perfect way to travel, shop, or commute without having to fire up the old 'gas-guzzler', fight traffic, and/or pay high prices for maintenance and fuel. Why not make your new EV a 100% useful 'second car' that will go a long way to help relieve your 'gas pains' (caused by rising fuel costs)? 'Going Electric' is very much the driving force we believe will help to create a better and cleaner future for us, our children, and for future generations.

The choice of vehicle that you drive has a greater effect on the environment than any other choice you make as a consumer.

Our collective addiction to oil is at the root of at least six fundamental issues that are adversely affecting our nation and indeed, the entire planet: corporate-driven globalization, global warming, poverty, war, terrorism, and the undue influence of money on the political process.

All is so true...Electric is they way to go..problem is politics and the Co's that will NOT benefit from it..As for one statement ...Repub's blocked Bill...take a look at the Bill...you will choke...not just about Electric ...politics again...and as for GM and others..I only see Toyota and the like jumping on it sooner thatn others..they see the market potential and have a infrostructure to sell and repair anything they sell...and willing to take that jump..they them selves seen this coming decades ago..so do not be surprized they(asian) auto makers will out do us again....bummer...but for me---at least..so far as I can tell...I can afford one from them...sorry state...isn't it....when deep pockets matter more than your own..
maybe someone will wake up...but I dought it..will take a good kick in the rear....
as for when this is to happen....it can happen now...development has been done years ago..batteries are here now..charging means are here now...
example..
each wheel is a motor..each wheel also is an alternator..
Ummm---think about it...
any and every battery can be charged 110v...no reason why not..so special plug stations...DON't THINK SO..
Like I want to see replacement of GAS stations with Electric or Hydro statiosn...give me a break...and Yes I would love to be able to afford Solar or Wind for my house...total electric and no bills...what a concept...

This article is on the money. Electric cars are the key to foreign oil independence.

I am impatiently waiting for an affordable electric car. As soon as an affordable electric car is available, you will see it in my driveway......

Regarding: 'He got two out of three right. A crash renewable electricity initiative would provide an immediate boost to our economy and could slow climate change, since electricity accounts for about a third of our overall greenhouse gas emissions.

But it would do little to enhance our national security.'

I think you are incorrect with your statement quoted above.

Currently we are boosting the economies of other countries with the 700 billion dollars for oil. A large portion of this goes to countries in the middle east. Whether or not these countries have any connection to our foes, I cannot speak of; however, the more of those dollars we retain to circulate within our own economy, the stronger our economic system will be. With a higher valued dollar, you can sure bet that that will affect our national security.

Generally got it right, unless we have electric cars, all the power plants in the world won't help us live witout oil.

And being able to buy a plug-in car allows you to avoid gas, and use the money to pay for your rooftop solar electric system, thus self-funding the solarizing of America.

But the oil companies are still blocking this, don't pretend they are not.

Some inaccuracies: Toyota had sold the last 328 RAV4-EV long BEFORE the protests that saved the Th!nk and the fleet-lease RAV4-EV. Toyota voluntarily sold these, honorably and without GM dirty tricks, to the general public between May and Nov., 2002, after Chevron funded the lawsuit that resulted in Toyota ceasing production of large-format NiMH batteries, and the end of the RAV4-EV program.

Interestingly, GM, which had bought control of NiMH in 1994, sold it to Texaco on Oct. 10, 2000; six days later, Texaco announced it was becoming Chevron (Standard Oil).

It seems rather foolish to build charging stations when there are no Electric cars! Electric cars actually can plug in anywhere, we've managed to outwit the barriers that the oil companies used to try to stop us from plugging into the wall.

For all the supposed talk, there still IS NOT ONE PLUG-IN CAR FOR SALE ON THE FREE MARKET. Yes, you can order a Tesla, for 2 years delivery, or you can convert a gas car to electric, if you are an engineer: but

THE ELECTRIC CAR HAS NOT BEEN SAVED.

Don't think the battle is over; GM's supposed pursuit of Lithium is just one more way of delaying EVs until they can cancel the program.
