Now let me see, do I want a 100 year skirmish war and the population becoming better debt slaves or a total and absolute economic collapse and total war with Russia, Syria, Iran and China ?

Both sound like good options to me, I would pick both because I am not American.

If I switch off the TV – the nightmare goes away.

So I'm confused: the headline says "McCain Office Mailed Threat, White Powder." This makes it sound like the McCain campaign SENT the letter to itself as a hoax. Did they? If not, a better headline would have been "McCain Office Received Mailed Threat, White Powder."

Or was the whole idea to raise controversy, and obscure the actual ISSUES of the campaign?

No matter, really. The Bush twins (John and Barack, not Barb and Jenna) can sort out between themselves which one is most like/unlike Great-GrandPoppa Prescott Bush. I don't want EITHER of them. I'm voting for the Green Candidate, Cynthia McKinney.
