Pat, earlier this year I took 5 courses of antibiotics in less than 3 months for a Urinary Tract Infection that I couldn't seem to get rid of, and have ended up now with digestive problems that I can't get rid of (its about 3 months since my last antibiotics). I'm constantly plagued with stomach upsets, cramps, bloating and intestinal soreness. I am thinking of going to a gastro specialist soon, but I too believe that antibiotics have caused my problems and get the feeling I have now got lifelong problems that I am going to have to just manage forever. I completely agree that there needs to be more research into the effects of antibiotics on peoples gastrointestinal systems in particular, because it's definitely a problem! :)

I believe antibiotics might be the major couse of all the digestive disorders today. I would like there to be more histories taken of people with Crohns. My daughter had antibiotics as a baby. About 7 started complaining of tummy and head aches. By 13 chronic permanent headache. By 18, after 3 rounds of antibiotics that year, weightloss and stomach trouble, and lastly age 21, more antibiotics and then experienced more weightloss...full blown Crohns. My daughter is now 26 and can hardly tolerate eating anything. Anyway, my point here is I believe antibiotics to be the blame and I would like to know if it correlates with others histories too. Very few voices out there are saying antibiotics are the cause of anything but candida troubles.
