Isn't it strange that alcohol and cigarettes are legal but cannabis, arguably a less harmful drug, is not. I think there is little doubt the reason is that cannabis is comparatively easy to prepare and therefore no big corporations need be involved, therefore no profits for them and no income tax for the government. The wellbeing of the people does not come into it.

It's worth remembering the U.K. government's attitude towards tobacco advertising a few years ago as well – do you recall Bernie Ecclestone (Formula 1 bigwig) donating 1 million pounds to the Labour Government, then a few hours later, after a private meeting with him, Tony Blair announced that there would be no ban on cigarette advertising at F1 events?

Annabel Goldie calls cannabis an extremely harmful substance. She's confusing it with alcohol. When's the last time cannabis got some one killed in the UK? They can rant and rave about the dangers of weed all they want but the real threat to public health and safety comes from alcohol abuse. A safer alternative drug to alcohol for recreational use is needed. Alcohol supremacism over weed is junk law and joker justice. Get real, guvnor.
