I say mediTATE, medicate, and cultivate. But don't wait.

We are a very long way from decriminalization, much less legalization in the USA. Despite the absurdity of a "war" on Cannabis, expect more of the same for a long time.

There is simply too much money involved in the continued illegal status of the plant. Money for law enforcement, both federal and local, profit for the government via property forfeiture, prisons for profit, drug testing companies, drug rehabilitation "counselors", etc ad nauseum.

Hunker down and do your thing. Grow on people.

Obama wants to create jobs, create exports, reduce our debt, become a nation on the forefront of industry and technology. I say the worlds oldest most cultivated usefull plant has a big stake in those goals. Forget the truth that people smoke to get high or a euphoric feeling, so what! People abuse alcohol, tobacco, caffeine, and rx drugs for the same effect. Only difference is marijuana doesnt have a death toll unlike its counter parts for recreational use. Marijuana plants are excellent for paper, wood, rope, alternative fuel, and a myriad of other products produced from fiber and cellulose. Corn has less cellulose than marijuana and would be ideal for bio-diesel fuel. Cellulose is used in many chemistry oriented products like plastic, which I think could be made safer by using more organic products to produce. Imported fiber products are rampant in American imports. Imagine reversing roles and becoming one of the worlds leading fiber producers. More money for the nation less debt for our children. The benefits definitely out-weigh the downfalls of not taxing, regulating and using this plant to our nations advantage. 5000 years of tried and true practical uses as well as recreational use, how can that be something bad.

Even today with all the illegal users of marijuana there is not a single case of a person losing their life, due to over consumption of marijuana. Yet millions are falling victims to tobacco, alcohol, rx drugs, OTC medications every year. Why should we continue to leave this untapped resource alone when we need it the most at this time in our young country's history. Because some paper producers with money and power didn't wanna compete with anyone back in the 1920's. To think the money hungry greedy actions of the past are still holding us back from our potential as a great nation is just a shame in my opinion.

If he looks across the Atlantic he will note that the UK Government having four years ago downgraded cannabis is currently in the processing of re classifying cannabis back up to B in our A to C classification system. A prime mover in that reclassification is the UK National Director of Mental Health. Legalisation of any currently illegal drug is now off any UK agenda. Medical excuse cannabis is making no headway either.
