1920's Christian progressive tradition? You sir, are a tool. I don't think you fully understand what the word progressive means. I am also high right now, and I will be high again tomorrow. Who will reap the financial benefits of my continued marijuana purchases?

Wow! Post number one is a glaring example of why this crap is still illegal. The pro-pot propagandists are their own worst enemy. Now, it's time for a history lesson. With regard to substance regulation, the PROGRESSIVE position has traditionally been in favor of prohibition going back to the days of the Women's Christian Temperance Movement. Now, it's time for modern political reality. Obama wants and needs big tent support for his agenda now and in the future. If his policies have any hope of success, he will need a second term and continued democratic majorities in the Congress. This issue is not a first-term issue at all and will alienate the very people he wishes to pull into his political camp. You may have some hope in 2013; but hopefully, by then, the children of the Baby Boomers will wake up from their drug-induced stupor and realize what a waste it's all been.
